Traditional Chinese medicine has been used to support fertility for thousands of years. Whether you are actively trying to conceive, or planning for the future, traditional Chinese medicine can help optimize your reproductive health. Here is a list of reproductive challenges that can be addressed:

  • Hormone regulation
  • Advanced maternal age
  • Diminished ovarian reserve
  • Egg and semen quality
  • Luteal phase defect
  • Poor endometrial lining
  • Recurrent miscarriage
  • Autoimmune issues
  • Thyroid issues
  • Stress reduction

In addition to acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and supplement recommendations, other services offered include:

  • IUI/IVF support
  • Lab diagnostics
  • Basal Body Temperature (BBT) chart analysis
  • Conception coaching (individuals and couples)
  • Nutrition and lifestyle guidance

Below are some of the ways that we can help optimize your reproductive health in preparation for a successful conception and the maintenance of a full, healthy pregnancy.

  • Normalize the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis for more regular and predictable ovulation.
  • Reduce stress hormones that may interfere with ovulation and progesterone production.
  • Increase blood flow to the ovaries positively influencing egg quality.
  • Increase blood flow to the uterus to nurture the endometrial lining in preparation for the implantation of a fertilized egg.
  • Improve pregnancy rates in women and couples choosing in-vitro fertilization (IVF) and intrauterine insemination (IUI).
  • Decrease the potential side-effects from Western fertility drug regimens.
  • Address male factors in infertile couples by improving semen quality.

The best time to begin treatment to promote fertility is ideally 2-4 months prior to conception, however initiating treatment at any point in your process will be beneficial in preparing your body for pregnancy.

My approach to reproductive health is integrative – I am available to work closely with your gynecologist, or other reproductive health specialists, in the interest of your best care. I am also available to provide embryo transfer support, pre- and post-procedure.

For those who those do not live in my area (Oakland, CA), it is possible to schedule email and phone consultations for fertility advice and conception coaching. Follow-up meetings for further discussion may also be scheduled.

Note: If you are planning to conceive, basal body temperature (BBT) charting is an incredibly useful tool in identifying potential fertility challenges – please refer to the following articles that I have written on this topic.
